#JanPhotoADay Part Deuce

Catching up! Here are Days 5-6. :)

I have no clue why my pics are loading all crazy... LOL - These are my favorite shoes!

It was hard to pick just one photo for this one as well - These two people make me smile and laugh beyond belief. I <3 them!

#JanPhotoADay

I'm so excited about this! I found it through Harpers Happenings and it's the perfect challenge for this  month. I am trying to get back into blogging, and making a habit of it... so what a better way to get me posting that this? It's also a great opportunity to give my new fancy Canon T3 some use. Woohoo! Couldn't be more thrilled.

Here's the plan:

I really hope I can stick through this! Feel free to join me! I'm starting a little late, as we're already in Day 6, but I'll be sure to keep it going moving forward. Enjoy!

I can't get it to straighten out for the life of me. Once I do, I'll replace, but in the meantime... You get the idea. It's me! :)

My favorite Breakfast item! Egg and Cheese sandwich on Whole Wheat. Yum!

It's hard not to just adore him, isn't it? This was a tough one, since I adore all of my children. :)

More photos coming soon!

Goodbye 2011!

It has been a while since I've been on our family blog. Life's gotten busy and I just didn't really make any time for it. And to be honest, a lot of times I just kept asking myself: "and what am I going to say?".

As I laid on the massage table on New Year's eve (yay for free birthday massage in my birthday month, right in the nick of time!), I closed my eyes and let myself reflect on the year about to end and whether there was really anything I wanted to work on and set as a resolution for 2012. And boy did my mind go to work. I rarely have time to myself, let alone to think and really reflect on things. This was just the perfect opportunity, and I did take advantage of it. Now, if only I could send all of that information telepathically to a computer at the moment to make sure that I would be able to remember everything! *Sigh*

Although 2011 didn't start out the best, I must say it was a great year overall. My father-in-law passed away on New Year's day. He had been struggling and fighting cancer for over 4 years, and it finally took the best of him. It was a sad start to the year, but we knew he would be in a much better place. I only knew my father-in-law for a few years, and I have great memories of him. His sense of humor, sarcasm and stories will live on forever.

We had tons of things to look forward to, including a new addition to the family. We discovered late October that we were expecting our third child and had just found out over the holidays that we were having a little boy! So exciting. So, we focused on getting ready for the new baby, keeping up with all the adventures a toddler could bring at the same time. In the middle of March, we decided to head on a house hunting adventure in the hopes to be able to find a bigger home for the ever growing family before baby was due to arrive late May. We searched for about two months until we found the home we loved! 6 months later... we were finally able to move in! We purchased a short sale property, so the process was long, tedious, but oh so worth it. We made renovations prior to moving in: removed carpet and laid down new flooring throughout the upstairs and master, new counter tops, re-did guest bathroom downstairs, new paint throughout (indoors and outdoors). The house has become our home... The home our children will grow-up in and will (hopefully) cherish for a lifetime. I'll post pictures soon!

Damian made his grand entrance to this world a day after our due date. Memorial Day - 5/30/2011 - at 5:30 AM; 7 lbs 1 oz; 19 1/2 inches long. The transition from 2 to 3 was definitely hard, considering baby #2 and #3 are only 23 months apart. Having a toddler and a baby in the house has been chaotic at times, but has made the journey that much more memorable. We are blessed to have Annjulia, my oldest, help with the two little ones. She's such a great big sister!

So, in general, 2011 was a fantastic year. And I can't begin to explain how grateful I am for all the blessings we've received. I am truly fortunate and I'm forever thankful to the Big Guy upstairs for everything.

I'll post more on new goals for 2012 in my next posts. This post is already long enough!

xoxo

P.S. Here is a collage of our most recent family pictures done late Fall 2011. They truly reflect the essence of our family.

Updated Pictures!

Alyssa at 3 months old! Time is flying and she is growing so fast!

On working and being a mom...

I had the blessing to spend the first 8 months of Annjulia's life with her. Now that I have Alyssa, and have had the need to go back to work a lot sooner with her, I have learned to appreciate even more so the time I was able to spend with Annjulia during those first few months of her life. And even though I have come back to work with a fresh mindset, new goals, and a greater motivation to make things happen for myself, a part of me still wants to be home and be a mom to my girls.

I know I'll get there, but in the meantime Tito has been amazing in sharing responsibilities when it comes to the kids and housework and the time we each spend on our leasure activities. We thought we would be able to come back to working out together in the afternoons after work, but it didn't take long to realize that Alyssa prefers the one-on-one attention she gets from us or her aunt Nuna, than the loud unpersonalized attention at the gym nursery. So now Tito has made the compromise of exercising in the mornings while I'm home preparing the girls and myself for the day, and he'll take care of the kids in the afternoon while I enjoy my hour of workout and destress time. I don't like that I don't get to spend time with the family until after 7 every day, but it's worked so far and I think it will continue to work until Alyssa is old enough to feel comfortable elsewhere.

My goal is to take this time back at work to focus on getting to where I want to be, make some extra money, save a lot of it, and hopefully be able to feel comfortable to stay home when we have our next baby. I am envious of the mommys that get to stay home with their little ones. I wish to be able to give them all my time, and will eventually. :) I'll just have to make the most of it in the meantime.

Back at it...

I survived my first week back at work! Fortunately for me, I've been pretty busy at work and I jumped right in to task, so the week pretty much flew by. I'm just happy it's finally Saturday and I am able to spend some time with the family.

I have to say, Monday is still a bit of a blur to me. Between conversations with co-workers on updates on Alyssa, picture sharing, pumping and the such, it seems like my day did not really consist of 24 hours (9 hours at work). I do have to admit that walking out the door, leaving my baby behind, was extremely emotional and I had to fight back the tears. Nonetheless, the phone calls to my sister were pretty persistent, although I managed to only call about 4 times throughout the day. :) I missed my baby so much. As the week progressed and I got back into my daily routine, I managed to bring down the calls to check in on Alyssa to just 2. Not too bad.

One of the biggest challenges I've encountered is the pumping at work thing. It's not the pumping part, its the finding where to go, actually taking the break to do it, and not feeling guilty that the "15 minute break" actually always turns out to be more of a 30 minute break. I am determined to make this work, though, and I just hope that I can make it a habit and can incorporate it without any other issues into my daily work routine. I want to make sure I can manage my time wisely. It is extremely important that I pump at least twice while I'm at work so I can maintain the supply going for Alyssa. Otherwise, it'll be bye-bye breastmilk hello formula. I'd like to breastfeed at least until she's 6 months old. We have another 3 months to go!

Which brings me to: Alyssa is 12 weeks old!!! My gosh. Time is flying. My sister says she's chuckled for her. I have yet to see it... and I hate that I missed it when she did it since it was her first time. But I'm sure it won't be the "first" I'll miss since I'm back at work. I just have to make sure I enjoy it when she does it for us when we're at home. She has so many more milestones to conquer! It's just going to get better and better.

AJ's doing great at school as well. I received an envelope from her teacher with her school work in it from beginning of the year until now, and she has done a fantastic job in every single one of them. She seems to be enjoying school and her teacher and I hope she maintains her grades like she has so far. FCATs will be a biggie again this year. She did a fabulous job last year by getting a perfect score on her reading portion and attaining level 5 in Math. Now we just have to make sure she maintains it. I'm really proud of her!
